Deepfakes Grow More Sophisticated, Putting Companies on Alert

Bloomberg Law reports on the rising sophistication of deepfakes, drawing on a Reality Defender conference exercise in which attendees — including cybersecurity professionals — tried to tell fake photos and videos from real ones and mostly scored around 50%.

CEO Ben Colman described a multi-layered attack in which scammers compromised a Fortune 500 CEO’s phone and WhatsApp in order to impersonate him on a deepfake video call requesting a wire transfer.
